About the Center
The mission of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is to promote excellence in teaching, to assist in the pedagogical and professional development of Saint Francis University faculty, and to encourage the integration of appropriate technology to enhance teaching and learning. The CETL provides faculty with training, resources, and venues to promote the exploration, sharing, and development of teaching skills and professional growth.
The CETL provides workshops and presentations, individualized consulting, and direct practical experience in applying technologies in teaching and learning and in the workplace. The center offers faculty and staff development through programs and resources which encourage excellence and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
The CETL administers and provides support for Blackboard, the course management system. The Center establishes courses in Blackboard for faculty and also provides training and assistance in developing courses and materials according to best design practice.
CETL offers trainings and workshops for every experience level. From beginner Microsoft Word or PowerPoint trainings to advanced virtual classroom tutorials, the CETL aims to meet the needs of both faculty and staff. The center encourages the application of current and emerging technologies, but also provides training and support for low tech solutions, such as creating rubrics and course mapping.
The CETL is located in rooms 110 and 111 on the first floor of the Library and Learning Commons and consists of a training center, consultant space, and offices. The center reports to the Dean of Library Services and the Office of Academic Affairs.
