Writing Center Home

  • The Writing Center at Saint Francis University offers one-to-one consultations for students seeking assistance with their writing. Our tutoring staff is trained to work with students at any stage of the writing process on almost any type of assignment. Our services and resources are free to all students enrolled at Saint Francis University.    

    For Students  

    The Writing Center is open Monday through Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. We are stationed on the second floor of the Library and Learning Commons.  Tutors are also available at the Maurice Stokes Center from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings. For more information on our location and posted hours, please visit our Location and Hours page. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome on a first-come-first-served basis. To schedule an appointment, please e-mail Dr. Brennan Thomas, the Writing Center Director, at writingcenter@francis.edu with your name, preferred appointment time, and a short assignment description.   

    For Faculty 

    Writing Center staff members are available upon request to visit classrooms and share with students the Center’s goals, services, hours, and location. To schedule a classroom visit, please e-mail Dr. Brennan Thomas at writingcenter@francis.edu with your name, course title, classroom location, class meeting time, and preferred date for our visit. 


    Writing Competency Examination Preparatory Workshops (Spring 2016)   

    The Writing Center will host a workshop series to help students prepare for the writing competency exam (WCE). Participants will review the WCE scoring rubric, draft responses to sample prompts, and share their writing in small groups. Workshops will be held January 26, 27, and 28 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Writing Center (Library and Learning Commons, Second Floor).
